All overseas students coming to College must have a valid international passport and many will need a visa before travelling to the UK. The British Government determines the list of ‘visa-national’ countries. Your nearest British Council office or British Mission (British Embassy, Consulate or High Commission) will be able to tell you whether you need a visa, also known as ‘entry clearance’. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office web site features a visa enquiry form where you can check if you require a visa and print off the required forms: go to www.ukvisas.gov.uk - Immigration and entry clearance.
If you are a Visa National, make sure you apply for entry clearance as a student and not as a visitor. Visa-National visitors are not allowed to extend their stay as students when they finish a visit. Once a student has been accepted by the College and has paid his/her tuition deposit, the Admissions Department will issue acceptance documents to be used for the visa application. Please contact the British Embassy, Consulate or High Commission in your country to find out which other documents are required.
