Moral and Character Development
To target desired student outcomes, there are three major issues in the education of young people today.
1. The development of a purpose for one's life i.e. discovery & defining of one's life mission and desired lifestyle.
2. The development of one's character, dealing with concerns of direction & quality of life.
3. The development of competence that deals with concerns of how well one is able to do something.
Our College ethos defines education as the process that prepares young people for their social inheritance and advocates three dimensions of education -
a) development of knowledge,
b) training of mental abilities,
c) development of character.
Values are seen as the foundation for character. Values are in fact orientations or dispositions whereas character involves action or activation of Knowledge and values.
Moral and character education is central to of our College mission statement.
Therefore the College ethos aims at ideal human being by developing in them
1. moral responsibility and sound ethical and moral behaviour,
2. capacity for discipline,
3. a moral and ethical sense of the values, goals, and processes of a Godly society,
4. standards of personal character and ideas.
The students need to learn moral and ethical doctrine.
Religious doctrines, philosophy and the constitution all provide core values that are embedded into our curriculum and are readily and rigorously practised.
We believe that well-behaved students have positive impact on student learning behaviour, producing best role models.
